HR 494, and HR 1129; Halls and Roads

HR 494 cedes authority over a "St. Joseph's Memorial Hall" to the City of St. Joseph, for which the city will give the United States Government $10,000.

HR 1129 clears the Federal Government of any liability for flood damaged caused by an arterial road it is building in St. Louis County, MO

Analysis: These are simple bills, no explanation should be necessary.

Comments: HR 494 is good because it is getting more stuff out of federal control. Hooray for separation of powers!

HR 1129 is cynical, but probably harmless. The government seems to have built a shoddy road and is declaring that it is immune from liabilities that a private road builder would have had to take on.

Since 494 enhances federalism, and 1129 is harmless, I would endorse two votes of YEA.
